THE TEAM
Mylene Lacroix
My name is Mylene. I'm 46. I live just outside of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. To pay bills, travel the globe and supply my serious yarn addiction, I work as a police/fire dispatcher.
Since as far back as I can remember (even before high school), I wanted to help people in faraway places. Supporting my littles, Betty and Mary (and their family), with the help of my mother has been top three most fulfilling things I've done in my life. I'm of the opinion that changing ONE life is worth it.
This will be my third trip to Uganda with Roger. I can't wait to see the girls again after 4.5 years. ❤️. I'm thrilled that my son Jacob and friend Julie will be joining us for their first time. I'm also looking forward to new friendships with Karen and Michael from the UK.
Jacob Lacroix-Cardinal
Hey, I'm Jacob. 28, Mylene's son. From Cornwall, but have been in Montreal for the last 7 years. I work as a recording and mixing engineer in music!
A few years back, I went on a volunteer trip with my mom to Thailand and Cambodia to help the communities there. Needless to say, I've got the bug now.
My mother has been out to Uganda helping and for the first time, I'll be able to join her. I look forward to helping and changing lives one heart at a time!
Roger lee
My name is Roger Lee. I am 74 years old and retired. I am a member of Cornwall Rotary Club Sunrise and a volunteer at Meals on Wheels.
I have been going to Uganda since 2007 and this will be my 9th visit. In this time, I have been involved in many projects, including helping handicapped children. Over the years, I have been involved in many programs, from house building, pig farms, chicken farms, goat projects, reusable pads for women and many, many more.
The thing I like most about being a member of a small dedicated team is that 100% of the funds we raised will go to where it will do the most good with NO middle man.
Julie pare
Hey, I’m Julie. I’m 38 years old. Born and raised in the city of Cornwall Ontario. I have a 19 year old daughter Kaitlyn who is currently in University for nursing.
I have been working as a police/fire dispatcher with Mylene since Nov 2019. Hearing Mylene talk about her time in Uganda and everything she has done has truly inspired me to do the same. I want to do something that is not only meaningful to me, but is meaningful to those around me.
Being a part of this adventure is probably the scariest thing I will ever do, yet I’ve never been more excited to be a part of something great. I am truly looking forward to being a part of this project and being able to put a smile on as many faces as I can.

Karen lee
Karen here, Rogers' favourite daughter. I currently work on a haematology / oncology ward as a nursing assistant in the UK.
I’m looking forward to returning to Uganda with Michael and my Father.
On my previous trip, my chosen project was to buy chickens to help in the prevention of malnutrition. In addition to this, I did some field work teaching mothers how to fortify the millet porridge and measuring the BMI of children under 5 years.
I am looking forward to revisiting the hospital and showing Mike (who I will marry a few days before we depart) how beautiful Uganda is.
